JIKON DENIM
JIKON – Wearing the story of the long-accumulated time that makes up the “just now.”
JIKON is a denim project reached by Shunsuke Ishikawa after a 25-year career, based on the concept of “Denim Now.” The name “JIKON (爾今)” itself is a Zen term meaning “just now.”
We do not create denim as a mere reproduction of vintage or as a consumable trend which is disposed of in the future. What we propose is the “accumulated time (Durée)” itself – the time the material grows into itself, the time the artisans honed their skills, and the time the user spends and carves into a changing denim.
Drawing from Henri Bergson’s concept of “Durée,” we believe the thickness of time, flowing incessantly from the past to the present, dwells within a single pair of denim. JIKON represents a new form of luxury that captures both the fleeting beauty of the “Moment” and the depth of “Durée.”
